INAE had instituted a “INAE Youth Forum” in the year 2017 comprising of students at Bachelor/Master’s and Doctoral Level with the objective of facilitating the engagement of Indian youth in the activities of INAE, so as to motivate them for pursuing engineering as a profession and contribute in Nation building. INAE through the Youth Forum desires to extend the membership to bright and young budding engineers, thereby endorsing their talent and advocating their ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country. The “INAE Youth Conclave” was launched as an annual flagship event of INAE, under the aegis of the INAE Youth Forum at BISR, Jaipur in August 2017, which was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr K Kasturirangan, FNAE, former President, INAE. The proceedings of the INAE Youth Conclaves are interactive in nature, wherein engineering students are encouraged to interact with esteemed Fellows of INAE. The general themes of the Youth Conclave are chosen so as to promote engineering excellence, youth leadership and nation building.
Youth Conclave 2023 (SERB-INAE Innovation Hackathon)
The INAE Youth Conclave 2023 was successfully organized under the aegis of SERB-INAE Innovation Hackathon at GITAM University in Visakhapatnam from November 3-4, 2023, brought together an impressive gathering of engineering students, researchers, and industry professionals. The theme of the Youth Conclave 2023, “Innovation and Technology for Global Challenges,” highlighted the importance of technological advancements in addressing pressing global issues. Youth conclave is an annual event promoted by INAE. The conclave focused on six key areas, each with profound implications for global problem-solving:

1. AI in Healthcare
2. Space & Robotics
3. Green Energy and Storage
4. Circular manufacturing
5. Biomedical Engineering and Devices
6. Smart City & Urban Planning
The conclave featured a series of engaging events that fostered innovation, knowledge sharing, and entrepreneurial spirit. These events included:
1. Ideathon: Students shared their creative solutions to the given problem statements.
2. Poster Presentation: Students presented their works in the given focus areas.
3. Model/Project Exhibition: Creative Models/Projects made by Students were exhibited at the Conclave.
4. Start-Up Showcase: A platform for entrepreneurial is provided to present their startup ideas and projects.
The INAE Youth Conclave 2023 was inaugurated by Shri Atul Bhatt, Chairman & Managing Director, Vizag Steel Plant. Prof. Indranil Manna, President, INAE gave his presidential address during the Inauguration ceremony. Dr. Y. Sreenivas Rao, Distinguished Scientist & Director General, Naval Systems & Materials (NS & M) and Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Vice-President, INAE addressed the audience in the valedictory session. In each of these events, participants came from different states had the opportunity to compete for prizes, with the top three performers in each category receiving cash awards. The winner received Rs 25,000, first runner up received Rs15,000, and the second runner up received Rs10,000. An inspiring inclusion in the event was the provision of exclusive prizes for women-only teams, with a cash award of Rs 10,000 in each event to promote gender diversity and inclusivity.

4. Dr. Sushmitha Sundar, Head (Life Sciences) RICH, Hyderabad
5. Mr. Venkata Sai Kiran C, Director, R&D and Strategic Initiatives at Skyroot Aerospace, Hyderabad.
6. Mr. Barki Dharmappa, Chairman & Managing Director at Noble Energy Solar Technologies Ltd, Hyderabad focused on thecompelling topic of “Green Energy and Storage.”
7. Capt. Sudheer Gattu, Business Head, Smart Infrastructure Business Unit, Fluentgrid Limited, Hyderabad delivered the talk on the theme “Smart City & UrbanPlanning.”
8. Dr. Abraham Varughese, Director, NSTL, Visakhapatnam delivered on captivating field of “Space & Robotics.”
9. Mr. Ramesh Venugopalasamy, Vice President at Bajaj Auto, Pune, Maharashtra, India delivered keynote talk on Skill Development.
The Industry and R&D Exhibition was conducted to serve as a forum for diverse participants to exhibit, investigate, and advocate for technological and industrial advancements. A large number of students Nationwide contributed to the success of this event, making it a resounding triumph. In conclusion, the INAE Youth Conclave 2023 served as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking, and it emphasized the importance of innovation and technology in addressing global challenges. The event provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of ideas, collaboration, and the recognition of outstanding talent and innovations in various fields of engineering and technology. It contributed significantly to the ongoing efforts to harness the power of technology for a better and more sustainable future.
The culmination of various elements created an enriching and memorable experience for participants, underscoring the success of the event in achieving its goals and fostering a sense of community and knowledge sharing.

YOUTH CONCLAVE 2022 (INAE-SERB Youth Conclave on Technology Self- Reliance)
IIT Jodhpur organised Youth Conclave 2022 in collaboration with Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) at IIT Jodhpur campus from 15 September to 18 September 2022. Youth conclave is an annual event promoted by INAE. The purpose of the event is to provide a platform to the country’s youth to express their technological creativity and ingenuity and demonstrate their ability to innovate towards finding solutions that impact our collective future. In addition, participating in this event provides an excellent platform for students to interact with fellows of INAE and experts who have distinguished themselves with contributions in Engineering R&D, Industry and Academia. INAE Youth Conclave 2021
INAE Youth Conclave 2021 was jointly organized with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai; National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai and Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai virtually on September 24, 2021. The competition was organized on the four themes namely Theme I: Waste to Wealth, Theme II: Digitization and Revolution in Logistics, Theme III: Engineering Intervention to fight against COVID-19 and Healthcare Management and Theme IV: Teaching and Learning in Pandemic, wherein the UG and PG students were invited to participate. A special session on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was organized, which was chaired by Prof Amit Agarwal, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay. The theme was based on ‘Engineering Intervention to fight against COVID-19 and Healthcare Management and Innovative Technologies and Product Developed during COVID’.
The Inaugural Session started with the Welcome Address by Dr Purnendu Ghosh, Vice-President, INAE followed by Prof MK Tiwari, Director NITIE, Prof S Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay and Prof AB Pandit, Vice President, INAE &Vice Chancellor, ICT, Mumbai. The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof Indranil Manna, President, INAE. The Inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr Pawan Kumar Goenka followed by Vote of thanks by Prof DN Singh, IIT Bombay.

INAE Youth Conclave 2019
The third INAE Youth Conclave was organized at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi on Aug 9-10, 2019. Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Director IIT, Delhi had kindly hosted the event. Dr. Purnendu Ghosh, Vice President INAE and Chairman INAE Youth Committee along with Prof Shaikh Ziauddin Ahmmad, IIT Delhi and Prof. BK Panigrahi, FNAE IIT Delhi organised the event. The Conclave was organized for engineering students in Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral level. The event included interactive sessions of students with INAE Fellows and other Subject Experts and presentations by students based on engineering models or engineering ideas. The engineering model and idea presentations were based on five topics of national importance namely (a) Health is Wealth (b) Digital Revolution (c) Environment Protection (d) Lab to Market and (e) Waste to Wealth. The Conclave was attended by more than 200 engineering students from all over the country, and about 30 INAE Fellows participated in the deliberations. The Conclave was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE and Guest of Honour was Prof K VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
The Inaugural Session was followed by individual/team presentations by students on the five chosen theme area. Each participating student/student team was judged by a panel of judges consisting of experts from academia and industry. The Top three from each group were awarded prize money of Rs. 25,000 for the winner, Rs. 15,000 for the first runner-up and Rs. 10,000 for the second runner-up. The presentation session was followed by technical sessions on “Engineering Education: Demand and Supply”, “Technical Innovation in India: Frugal and Conventional”, “Societal Reinvention through Technology” and “Young Entrepreneur: Prospect and Challenges”.
The conclave concluded with the award ceremony for the awardees. The students who attended the conclave were held interactions with INAE Fellows from Academia, R&D and Industry during the sessions. Dr. Purnendu Ghosh, Vice President, INAE and Chairman INAE Youth Committee congratulated all the awardees. He informed that all the awardees would be inducted as INAE Student Members for a period of 5 years and encouraged their involvement in INAE activities.
INAE Youth Conclave 2018
The second INAE Youth Conclave was organized at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur on Aug 11-12, 2018. Prof. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, Director IIT, Kharagpur had kindly consented to host the event at IIT Kharagpur and Prof Manoj Tiwari, IIT Kharagpur and Prof. Jayanta Mukhopadhyay, IIT Kharagpur organized the event.
The Conclave was organized in two phases. Phase I (Mar 23-25, 2018) involved a Pre-Conclave activity where students from different engineering colleges and institutions at graduate level presented their ideas on six identified problem statements namely (a) Academic Planning (b) Town Planning (c) Optimizing Food Chain (d) Health Care App (e) Digitization of Agriculture sector and (d) Swachh Bharat. The student groups were required to prepare a complete report on the problem statement chosen by them with a view to arrive at a detailed case study with a well-developed strategy to solve the problem. The groups were shortlisted and the first three performing groups were awarded based on the merit of their projects. All the shortlisted student groups were invited in the final conclave (Phase II) to present projects based on the problem statements they had worked upon earlier.
The Conclave was attended by more than 230 engineering students from all over the country, and about 40 INAE Fellows participated in the deliberations. The conclave was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE and the Guest of Honour was Dr. BN Suresh, President, INAE & Chancellor IIST. The Inaugural Session was followed by interactive sessions on “Indian Innovation”, “Freedom of Research in Academics”, “Science and Technology in Ancient India: Myth and Reality”, “How to become an Entrepreneur?”. The student teams presented and demonstrated their work on the above mentioned problem statements. Each participating team was judged by a panel of judges comprising of experts from academia and industry. The Top three student group in each theme were awarded prize money of Rs. 1,00,000 for the winner, Rs. 50,000 for the first runner-up and Rs. 25,000 for the second runner-up.
INAE had also organised an Online Second National Essay Competition on the topic “National Challenge and the Engineering Solution”. The shortlisted essays were reviewed by a distinguished Selection Committee and four awardees were selected. Mr. Angshuman Pal from Jadavpur University won the First Prize of Rs. 25,000; Mr. Gulam Sarwar from IIT Bombay won the second prize of Rs. 15, 000 and third prize was won by two participants Ms. Yasaswini Aluru from KL University & Mr. Sangam Sahu from School of Aeronautics, Neemrana of Rs. 10000 each.
The Conclave concluded with the award ceremony for the awardees. The students were encouraged to interact with INAE Fellows from Academia, R&D and Industry on issues related to their future careers as upcoming engineers. Dr. BN Suresh, President, INAE congratulated all the awardees and briefed them regarding their induction as INAE Student Members for a period of 5 years. He also encouraged them to be involved with INAE activities as Student Members.

The INAE Youth Conclave was organized at Birla Institute for Scientific Research (BISR), Jaipur on Aug 11-12, 2017. Dr Purnendu Ghosh, Vice -President, and Chief Editor of Publications, INAE and Executive Director, Birla Institute for Scientific Research (BISR), Jaipur had hosted the event. The general theme of the conclave was engineering excellence, youth leadership and nation building. One of the questions often asked is, What should we do, as a country, to become the real players in a techno-bulged world? Many say, Prepare young innovative leaders. What must we do – as teachers, mentors and employers – to prepare young minds for the future world? What the young professionals think about the future of engineering profession? These are a few questions INAE addressed in the Youth Conclave. An INAE Youth Forum has been established with the objective of facilitating the engagement of Indian youth in engineering activities at national level. As a first activity of the Forum, with a view to encourage engineering students; a national online Essay Competition for engineering students on “Towards Technological Self-Reliance and Leadership” was held during the year 2017. The Youth Conclave was a new initiative of INAE wherein around 150 engineering students from all over the country and about 50 INAE Fellows participated in the deliberations. The Youth Conclave was inaugurated by The Chief Guest, Dr K Kasturirangan, FNAE, Chairman, Karnataka Knowledge Commission. The proceedings of the Conclave were interactive in nature, wherein engineering students were encouraged to interact with the Fellows of INAE from the Academia, R&D and Industry. The Inaugural Session was followed by 7 sessions on Engineering excellence, youth leadership and nation building; Award Ceremony and Presentations by essay competition winners; Engineering -An Industry Perspective; Engineering education and Innovation; Entrepreneurship; Start up and Panel Discussion and Concluding Session. This Youth Conclave will be held each year during which interactive sessions are planned with senior INAE Fellows to encourage the involvement of youth in contributing to the engineering activities of the nation. The next youth Conclave is planned at IIT Kharagpur wherein Prof PP Chakrabarti, Director, IIT Kharagpur has kindly consented to host the event.
