• Mr Madan was one of first engineers to apply NATM successfully in the most difficult gassy tunnel of Loktak HEP and inculcated the art of tunnelling to other engineers. • Developed 5 P system of excavation on flowing ground and extremely weak Rock Strata. Use of 5 P system has made it possible to excavate the tunnel of Allain Duhangan HEP (192 MW) which was otherwise thought to be abandoned. 5 P system consists of five operations viz Plug, Probe, Pressure-Relief, Protection of roof, Pre-grout and support for excavating tunnels in extremely weak rock & flowing ground conditions. • Involved actively in planning of High RCC Dam of Ratle HEP in J&K, Chanani Nashri Highway tunnel, Mumbai Metro Line 3 underground stations and TBM tunnelling etc o As Senior Principal Consultant for SJVN Ltd (Hydro Power PSU of Govt. of India) for Acquisition of a 500 MW Hydro Project which was declared NPA and went under Bankruptcy. Resolution Documents were submitted to RP. o As an Expert visited Lower SOLU HEP in Nepal for resolving issue of extremely weak ground condition of main HRT and Land Slide issues in various components of project. o As an Expert visited a group of Small Hydro Project for studying Layout and feaseability of development of Hydro Power of River Gopad, River Marshal and Sirmaur SHEP in the State of MP. o As an Expert, Services were taken by UK Irrigation department for development of Song Dam on River Song for development of High RCC Dam. o Member of INDIAN ROAD CONGRESS H-10 Committee; HILL ROADS & TUNNEL COMMITTEE for preparation of Guidelines. o Conducted Technical Due Diligence of a 330 MW Hydro Power Project in J&K which was due for Commissioning. o Conducted Study of All Stranded Hydro Power Projects and submitted the report to the requisitioning Agency. o Involved in Mumbai Metro as a Technical Consultant for construction of Tunnels with TBM & NATM & 5 Stations and reviewing support systems. o Trained Young Engineers of Teesta Stage-3 for one week at Sikkim and Hydro Engineers at National Skill Development Organisationin refreshing Hydro Power knowledge to take up new challenges in future. o Published and presented more than 247 technical papers in national and international forums besides award winning books on Hydropower and Tunnelling in English as well as in Hindi language. -Tunnelling Expert with Mott MacDonald as Sub-Consultant for Rewa- Siddhi Highway tunnel in MP. The project envisages construction of Twin highway tunnels of total 4550 m length, 16m (W) x 9.5m (H) finished size (Excavated Size; 18.5m x 13.7m). The Tunnels have 7 nos of cross passages. •Top Level Expert (TLE) & Team Leader of Lower Seti HPP at Nepal.
