Joined Indian Railways in Nov, 1965 as Asst Engineer probationer for two years and rose to the level of Member, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to the Govt of India, Ministry of Railways. Held position of Executive Engineer Survey, Construction for 8 yrs, Deputy Chief Engineer (construction) for 3 yrs, Divisional Railway Engineer for 3 yrs,Chief Track Engineer for 5 yrs, Chief Administrative Officer (construction) for 4 yrs, General Manager of Zonal Railway and ultimately superannuated as Member, Railway Board after 1 yr and 8 months. After superannuation, was Adviser to the Govt of Karnataka for Bangalore Metro Project for 3 yrs and then became Functional Director in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. Was on deputation to Zambian Railways for 5 years for Construction of a new Railway line.
