Major Professional Contributions:

  • Dr.Venkata Mohan’s research focuses on the cross cutting domain of environmental engineering specifically in the interface of biotechnology and biofuel with multi-disciplinary approach. His interdisciplinary research approach principally focused on the development of new and sustainable waste remediation technologies by incorporating bio-fuels production or value addition as an integral component and established a comprehensive and systematic link between waste remediation and renewable energy generation. Utilization of negative valued wastewater/waste for value addition in a unified research approach has lead to a paradigm shift from ‘waste remediation’ towards ‘waste to wealth’. His research interest are in the areas of valorization of waste through biological routes, biohydrogen production from waste remediation, bioelectricity production through Microbial fuel cell (MFC), Bio-electrochemical treatment, microbial electrochemical technologies, Biopolymers/bioplas tics production from waste, Advanced biological treatment process, algal based fuels and Environmental Impact assessment studies.
  • His research contributions have resulted in more than 260 research articles, 30 chapters for books and 8 patents. His publications have so far received more than 7200 citations, and have an h-index of 48 (Google Scholar). He has supervised 18 PhDs, 2 M.Phils and more than 75 M.Tech./B.Tech./M.Sc. students. Five researchers spent time as Post-Doctoral colleagues in his research group.
  • His was involved in developing 10 processes which are demonstrated at full/pilot scales in environmental engineering domain. He also carried about 11 projects related to various aspects of environmental which includes EIA, carrying capacity studies, metal remediation, etc. He has successfully completed 9 research (Grant-In-Aid) projects and at present working with 4 project with various national and international funding agencies .
