Major Professional Contributions:

I have led a team of engineers in the development of on board computer (OBC) systems for India's satellite launchers. The systems which are used for the Navigation, Guidance & Control (NGC) of the launch vehicles are mission critical and are one of the most important systems on board the launch vehicle. Starting from the conceptual design, I have been responsible for the hardware and circuit implementation, design of the software incorporating real time and fault tolerant features and also the communication protocols used for inter processor communication. The systems developed have been constantly improved to keep pace with the rapidly changing technology in this area of Electronics and to overcome the obsolescence of components. This has resulted in designs which have spanned three generations in terms of technology and performance. The present system is essentially a fault tolerant system having a distributed computer architecture and consists of six independent and c ooperating computers inter connected by serial communication links. All these systems have been used in ISRO's ASLV, PSLV & GSLV missions.
