Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Mukhopadhyay has made several outstanding contributions in areas of quasicrystals, complex inter-metallic alloys, nano-materials, nano-indentation, design, development of alloys, failure analysis and component integrity of engineering materials. His work of discovery of ordered quasicrystals, new type of quasicrystals and proposed classification scheme are his most significant research contributions, having created an international impact. His innovative work on rational approximants, complex intermetallic compounds and correlation with quasicrystals, and new indexing schemes are also highly recognized. The work on milling of quasicrystals and complex crystalline materials has shed new light on the stability of these phases and phase equilibrium at low temperature. .
