Prof. Krithivasan Ramamritham has made several landmark contributions towards research, teaching and service in the field of Computer Science and Engineering in general and real-time systems and database systems. His research results have had significant influence on both the research community and industry. His scheduling and operating systems concepts have been used by Texas Instruments, GTE Labs, Lucent Bell Laboratories, Schlumberger and Mistibishi. Prof. Ramamritham's efforts to advance the state of Computer Science Research in India are also exemplary. Also highly noteworthy are his current efforts directed at bridging the digital divide that exists at different levels in India. .
