Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Jayant Haritsa has made stellar contributions tothe theory, algorithms, data structures and architectural design of databaseengines, the core of modern enterprise information systems. He hasintroduced and developed the novel concepts of firm-deadline schedulers forreal-time transactions; vertical layouts, oracle algorithms and matrix-theoreticprivacy techniques for association rule mining; queriablehomomorphic compressors for XML repositories; multilingual queryoperators and access methods for natural-language-neutral databasesystems; and, most recently, a robust plan selection methodology thatsolves the long-standing and critical problem of predicate selectivityestimation errors in declarative query optimizers..
