Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. B. G. Fernandes has been active in field of power electronics and electrical machine design, including inverter topologies for VAR compensation, power electronic interfaces for non-conventional energy sources, permanent magnet machines for wind power generation and switched reluctance machines for electric vehicles. He has put considerable effort in the development of low cost and high efficiency motors. He has developed economic as well as high performance motors for ceiling fan, electric scooters and irrigation pumps. He has developed high reliability solar-inverters, which he has patented. He is one of principal investigators for National Center for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE).
